WTCS Virtual 5K Run/Walk Challenge

Join students, faculty, and staff members from technical colleges across the state in the first Wisconsin Technical College System Virtual 5K! By signing up for the FREE WTCS Virtual 5K Run/Walk you will register and run or walk 3.1 miles all on your own as part of the WCTC team. You can use a personal treadmill in your home or enjoy the beautiful outdoors as you run around your neighborhood or walk down a quiet dirt road in the country. As a registered participant, you choose your own route and complete your 5K Run/Walk on your own time where it is most convenient for you. Be sure to practice distancing guidelines and safety precautions wherever your path leads you.  

The goal of the 5k is to help support participants in leading a healthy lifestyle! Regular exercise helps the body become physically and mentally strong, allowing you to tackle challenges and achieve your goals!

If you have not run or walked a 5K before or want some refresher tips, we have the tools to help you prepare!  Register today and you will get access to valuable resources and useful tips.  Each week of the challenge you will receive information and training tips delivered to your email inbox to help you feel confident in training and completing your 5k. All resources will also be posted on the challenge website for your convenience along with an ongoing tally of all WTCS Virtual 5K Run/Walk participants registered from across the WTCS system.

Ready, Set…Go!

Complete your 5K between September 27 and October 10, 2020. Then, head back to the Challenge website to record up to two 5K completions (one the week of September 27 and one the week of October 4). The 5k is not a competition, inputting your 5k is only to add to the WCTC participant tally as a whole as we compete with other WTCS colleges; your information will not be shared or visible to other participants. The purpose of this challenge is to create awareness about the benefits of physical activity including stress relief, increase in energy, and improvements in focus and concentration.

Registration Helpful Hints

This challenge is open to all active WCTC employees and students. To participate, you must have a current signed WCTC Fitness Center waiver form on file; you will be prompted to fill out a waiver during registration if you have not completed one for the 20-21 academic year.

When you register to participate in the WTCS Virtual 5K Run/Walk Challenge, you will be asked to provide your name, email, if you are a student or employee and which college “team” you are associated with (ie: WCTC!), all other information is optional and not needed for participation. Also, for best results, please register only yourself (the “Register Others” button does not provide accurate registration information.)
