Description
Cryptocurrency and the Darknet no longer need to be intimidating or cause officers to feel helpless in their investigation! Learn how prevalent technology, to include the Darknet and cryptocurrency, is now used to facilitate many of the local crimes being committed. Crimes such as identity theft, counterfeit currency, cloned credit cards, child sexual abuse material (CSAM), romance scams, drug trafficking, money laundering, and even bomb threats can all be successfully investigated if an officer knows where to look and what questions to ask. Although this technology brings new hurdles to law enforcement, it is very manageable with the right skills and instruction.
This class is specifically designed for any officer, investigator, analyst, or supervisor responsible for making arrests, conducting interviews, processing and reviewing electronic devices, completing reports, or preparing investigations for prosecution.
This class will include photographs and discussion of real-life case studies, exploring the Darknet, and ability to trace and seize cryptocurrency. A laptop is preferred.
