Description

This course will provide attendees with the knowledge and understanding of critical steps in the investigation of officer-involved deaths and critical incidents. Students will review and discuss Wisconsin law and learn about the investigative processes adopted. Participants will also learn what is needed and expected of first responders to officer-involved critical incidents, and what to expect and prepare for if they are actively involved in a critical incident. In addition, students will learn the critical duties and steps that should be performed by law enforcement supervisors and investigators, the steps and duties involved in the investigation, and important issues pertaining to initial and on-going communication to the media.

Who should attend:

This course contains valuable and critical training for all professional law enforcement officers, particularly  investigators, patrol and investigative supervisors, and those who patrol or respond to high-risk calls for service. This course is for sworn law enforcement only unless preapproved.
