Think you don't have what it takes to go to college? Think again!
WCTC's Integrated Education & Training (IET) program is designed to help you gain valuable career skills with hands-on career training while reaching other educational goals.
If you fear your understanding of English is not good enough for college, or you haven't finished your high school diploma, IET programs are designed with you in mind. English support is integrated into each credit course. And if you need it, our staff can help guide you to fit both high school completion work and your IET courses into your schedule.
These high-support tracks can help you:
- Learn English language skills
- Earn your GED, HSED or high school diploma
- Build academic skills in areas like reading and math
Upon completing any of these tracks, you'll be awarded a Pre-Technical Certificate. You can take your education to the next level by applying the credits you earn in these classes toward a WCTC associate degree or technical diploma!

Frequently Asked Questions
Who takes IET classes?
Anyone can take IET classes! However, IET was designed for English language learners, GED/HSED students, and students who want extra support during their first year of college.
I'm worried about my English. Can I still start a career certificate?
Yes, you can! Students from level 3 ESL and above have been successful in IET. Your English will continue to grow and advance in IET. You will have a lot of help with language in these classes.
I want to take these classes but I work during class times. Are there different times available?
No, IET schedules do not have flexibility in days or times. These are special programs so we can only offer each class one time per year at a specific day and time.
How much time does it take to complete a certificate?
All of our certificates are less than one year.
Can I find a job after I complete an IET certificate?
This depends a lot on the pathway you study and your personal background. For students in our Manufacturing and Nursing Assistant tracks, there are many job openings. For students in Education, Healthcare and IT, you will need to study more than just this certificate to find a job in the industry if you do not have prior experience.
I don't have a high school diploma. Can I still enroll?
Yes, you can still take an IET certificate without a high school diploma. We can also help you get your GED or high school equivalency diploma while you are enrolled in IET.
My schedule says that I have an IET support class once a week. What does that mean?
An IET support class is a very important part of the IET certificate. You will have time to work on homework, ask more questions, learn more about career pathways, college study skills and build community with your IET cohort.
How is IET different than taking other college programs?
With IET, you'll receive extra support as you earn college credit:
- An IET instructor and support course to help with English, math, study skills and more.
- A small cohort of students learning together.
- Personalized advising every step of the way.
- A grant covers your tuition. You only pay a small student fee ($4.50) and the cost of textbooks.
- The opportunity to explore a career pathway before deciding what to study next.
