Transcultural Healthcare: Antigua & Panajachel, Guatemala

Learn about the Guatemalan healthcare landscape and the disparities between the wealthy and the impoverished. The group spends a few days touring the colonial city of Antigua and transitions to the Lake Atitlan region to complete volunteer projects that directly improve the health of indigenous Guatemalans. The experience leads WCTC School of Health students to become more well-rounded healthcare professionals.

This multidisciplinary program focuses on the history and culture of Guatemala and is designed for students interested in volunteering their time and talents. While abroad, you’ll spend your mornings on the volunteer assignment and afternoons on cultural activities and events.

During this tour-based program, gain exposure to the real-world implementation of historic design, art and architecture principles in an international context. Every few days, you’ll travel to a new location, which affords you an amazing opportunity to see a variety of cities both old and new. Past programs have included England and Scotland; Spain, France, Monaco and Italy; Prague, Vienna and Budapest; and Spain and Portugal.
