Pretech for Healthcare | 5-credit Technical Certificate
Gear up for a rewarding career in the healthcare field. Earn college credit in Contemporary Healthcare Practices and Medical Terminology, plus prepare for continued education with the noncredit Intro to Healthcare course.
Your tuition is covered! Students in this track only pay for textbooks and our mandatory student accident-only insurance ($4.50 per semester).

What will I learn in the pre-tech for Healthcare certificate?
You will learn about different careers in healthcare. You will develop the language you need to be successful in healthcare classes. You will also learn important study skills for future Healthcare classes. Classes you will take:
- Introduction to Healthcare
- Digital Literacy for Healthcare
- Medical Terminology
- English for Healthcare (Optional)
- Prepare for the IET Healthcare certificate or Nursing Assistant technical diploma. We recommend this class for students at English Levels 2 or 3. This class is offered through our partner, Literacy Services of Waukesha, and is not held at WCTC.
- Dates: Tuesdays and Thursdays from August 18 through December 10

How much does it cost?
The only cost for this certificate is the textbook. The textbook for Introduction to Healthcare costs about $80. The tuition for the courses is paid by a grant.
How could this help me?
This certificate will help you start a career in healthcare. This certificate is part of larger degrees in Healthcare including Phlebotomy, Medical Coding, Surgical Technology, and Accounting for Healthcare.
When are classes?
Classes are during the afternoons, Mondays and Wednesdays from 12:30-3:20pm. You will have a mix of in-person and online classes.
Can I start earlier?
Yes, to prepare for the Healthcare certificate you can start with English for Healthcare! We share this class with Literacy Services in Waukesha. It's for Level 2-4.
