Build on the technical skills developed in your apprenticeship by completing coursework in communications, social science, behavioral science, and math or science. Work with an academic advisor to develop a plan that meets your individual needs and goals.
How To Apply
- Apply online and pay the $30 application fee.
- Submit a copy of one of the following to demonstrate your reading, writing and math skills:
- High school GPA of 2.60 or above. Transcript must include completed coursework through the 11th grade.*
- ACT, ACCUPLACER® or GED - 2014 Series (165 or higher).*
- Prior college coursework may meet this requirement in whole or in part. Courses must be in the specific area(s), and you must have earned a grade of C or better (2.0 on a 4.0 scale) in the courses.*
- If none of the above apply, sign up for the ACCUPLACER® placement test.
*Unofficial copies of these documents can be sent to admissions@wctc.edu.
- Proof of eligibility:
- Students currently enrolled in a WCTC apprenticeship: no proof of eligibility needed.
- Current apprenticeship students enrolled at any Wisconsin Technical College System school: submit official transcript.
- Apprenticeship completers: submit copy of Wisconsin Apprenticeship Completion Certificate issued by the Department of Workforce Development - Bureau of Apprenticeship Standards. Fax to 262.691.5123 or email to the Admissions Office.

What Makes This Program Unique
- This program is for those who are pursuing or have completed a registered trade apprenticeship consisting of at least 400 hours of paid-related technical instruction and three years of on-the-job learning.
- It recognizes the value of an apprenticeship by awarding 39 college credits, leaving just 21 credits to complete an associate degree.
- Credits from this program may transfer into bachelor’s degree programs at other institutions.
Program Pathway
Earn certificates, technical diplomas and/or industry credentials along this pathway. Start with some courses for entry-level employment, and continue with additional courses for higher wages and job advancement.
Journeyworker Pathway
Earn credit for prior learning for the college-level knowledge and skills that you've already acquired through advanced high school classes, previous college coursework, self-study, military training work or volunteer experience.
