Critical Communication & Decision Making for the Patrol Officer

The elements of communication in policing are more critical now than ever before. This course focuses on the challenges of communication and decision making in today’s interactions with the public. It will re-emphasize key components of training and curriculum that will serve as the foundation for the strategies officers can use to “de-escalate” when practical while providing confidence in the decisions made in utilizing Use-of-Force.
Attendees will engage in discussions, video debriefs, and low speed practical walk through exercises exploring dynamic situations like: Uncooperative Drivers, Claims of Racial Bias, Armed Subjects, Subjects experiencing Mental Health Crisis, Sovereign Ideologies and more.
