The Plumbing apprenticeship is in conjunction with Associated Builders and Contractors (ABC), Wisconsin chapter, a national trade association for the construction industry.

Plumbers possess the skills and knowledge to plan, install and service plumbing systems, which can include those connected to washers, bathtubs, sinks, toilets, and heating and cooling systems. Receive high-quality, hands-on classroom instruction that complements on-the-job apprenticeship training critical for success in the industrial trades.

How To Start

  • While WCTC provides related apprenticeship instruction, the student does not need to apply to the college.
  • Contact Associated Builders and Contractors (ABC) of Wisconsin, 5330 Wall Street, Madison, WI 53718.
  • Complete and submit the ABC application packet, which will include qualifying test information.
  • After application approval, ABC will provide a list of potential employers will be provided.
  • Obtain employment for apprenticeship training; this is the responsibility of the individual seeking an apprenticeship.
  • The State of Wisconsin oversees the apprenticeship system.

If you are a good problem solver, strong communicator and are dedicated to getting the job done, a career in the plumbing industry may be right for you. Plumbers are tasked with installing, repairing and maintaining water pipes, and they have a thorough understanding of building codes, knowledge of blueprint reading and insight into water conservation techniques.

$45,000 – $90,000 annually

Salary range estimates based on wages for related occupations in Waukesha County as reported by Economic Modeling Specialists International (EMSI). Individual wages may vary based on experience, industry, location and specific job requirements.

This apprenticeship does not qualify for financial aid. To qualify for most federal financial aid, a student must be enrolled in a technical diploma or associate degree program.
