Registration Planning

If you're a newly-admitted program student, you must complete New Student Orientation, where you will register for your first semester classes.

How many credits should I register for?

Here are a few important things to consider when determining the amount of credits to take each semester:

  • Work hours
  • Child care
  • Family responsibilities
  • Extracurricular activities
  • Study time commitment (Plan to study two to three hours per credit per week for traditional 16-week courses. Shorter courses may require more time per week.)
  • Timeframe for graduation
  • Accommodation needs
  • Costs including tuition, books and supplies
  • Financial aid availability
  • Veteran benefits
  • Course availability

Which courses should I choose?

Choosing the right courses depends on several factors, including:

  • Placement scores
  • Potential plans to transfer
  • Transportation and commute time
  • Prerequisites and program restrictions
  • Attendance requirements
