Student profile: Meet Caleb Bryant, AI Data Specialist, Data and Analytics Specialist
"My WCTC experience is setting me up for success in my career by providing the tools that employers expect to see in their prospective hires. WCTC tailors education with a direct focus on making every student employable." -- Caleb Bryant
After more than 20 years working in finance, Caleb Bryant knew he was ready for a change. He was unhappy with certain aspects of his career path and wanted to find something more
challenging and satisfying.
Having grown up in Waukesha County, Bryant knew about WCTC but admits he underestimated the College, initially thinking its programs led to lower-paying job opportunities.
"WCTC can lead to very high-level jobs, just as much as any four-year college,” he said, noting the strong emphasis WCTC places on helping students develop both technical and soft skills, which are enhanced by relationships with local employers.
Bryant realized his dream of a career change was within reach after attending an open house; shortly after, he dual enrolled in the IT – Data and Analytics Specialist, and the AI Data Specialist associate degree programs.
He discovered a passion for information technology and artificial intelligence and immersed himself in various activities, such as membership in the IT Club and serving as an AI liaison to other students. Additionally, he started a simple AI newsletter distribution that he developed from scratch, with plans for expansion.
Bryant said his WCTC experience has exceeded his expectations, noting instructors and administrators are always approachable and helpful. He has been invited to program discussions, participated in a podcast at the WCTC Applied AI Lab, was filmed for a state-level video and became involved with other projects.
Recently, Bryant was hired by Handshake AI, part of the Handshake career platform, as an AI fellow. In this role, he trains AI models by reviewing outputs, creating prompts and providing feedback. It’s a perfect opportunity to gain experience and enhance his resume, he said.
Bryant is set to graduate in May 2027, work in his new field and continue his education at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee to earn a bachelor’s degree.
"My WCTC experience is setting me up for success in my career by providing the tools that employers expect to see in their prospective hires," he said. "WCTC tailors education with a direct focus on making every student employable."
