Community Smiles Dental and Waukesha County Technical College Partner to Keep Patient Care Uninterrupted During Clinic Renovation

WAUKESHA, Wis. (May 18, 2026) — Community Smiles Dental (CSD), a nonprofit pediatric dental clinic providing care for underserved children and individuals with special healthcare needs, today announced the start of its first major renovation in 18 years to its Waukesha clinic. The project represents a long-term investment in the space and the patients CSD serves, modernizing the clinic with new equipment and an improved layout designed to enhance the patient experience, elevate quality of care, and improve efficiency for the clinical team.

Community Smiles Dental logoTo ensure patients continue to receive care without interruption during construction, Community Smiles Dental will temporarily relocate its Waukesha services to the Waukesha County Technical College (WCTC) Waukesha location (327 East Broadway) from June 1 through August 1. WCTC is providing clinical space for the duration of the project, a partnership that highlights the power of community collaboration in maintaining access to essential health services.

CSD and WCTC have a long-standing relationship that goes back more than 10 years. WCTC has provided many interns to CSD via its dental hygiene and dental assistant programs, where students gain experience while contributing to patient care across the community. Hosting CSD’s clinic operations this summer is a natural extension of that work.

By opening its doors during Community Smiles’ construction, WCTC is helping ensure that patients, many of whom rely on CSD as their primary source of oral health care, experience a smooth transition with no gap in these critical services.

“This renovation is an important investment in the future of oral health care in our region and in the patients who rely on us every day,” said Scott Marshall, CEO of Community Smiles Dental. “We are incredibly grateful to WCTC for stepping up to support our patients and team during construction.”

The renovation will update equipment, refresh the patient environment, and reconfigure the clinic layout to support the way care is delivered today. The improvements position CSD to better meet rising community needs and to continue providing high-quality, accessible dental care for years to come.

“We are proud to welcome Community Smiles Dental and its patients into our clinical space during this important renovation,” said Rich Barnhouse, Ph.D., president and CEO of WCTC. “This partnership not only helps ensure uninterrupted access to patient care but also creates an invaluable opportunity for our dental hygiene students to gain hands-on, real-world experience alongside experienced professionals. It’s a meaningful collaboration that strengthens the future of oral health in our community.”

Patients with appointments between June 1 and August 1 will be seen at WCTC. Existing appointments will be honored, and the CSD team will be on site at WCTC to provide the same trusted services patients receive today. The Waukesha clinic inside the ProHealth Care building is expected to reopen in August following the completion of the renovation. Patients with questions are encouraged to contact CSD directly.
