Watch a video about our Dental Hygienist program.

Dental hygienists rank among the fastest growing healthcare occupations. They educate patients on how to practice good oral hygiene, and they perform other preventive dental care such as teeth cleaning to remove tartar, stains and plaque; apply sealants and fluoride treatments; and take and develop x-rays. In the Dental Hygiene program, learn to provide therapeutic and preventive services with a dentist and become involved in dental health counseling.

  • Prepare for jobs such as dental hygienist or registered dental hygienist.
  • The Dental Hygienist program is accredited by the American Dental Association Commission on Dental Accreditation.
  • Involvement with the Dental Hygiene Club (SADHA) reinforces the importance of the dental hygienist's role in community service efforts and continuing education.
  • Program-to-program transfer opportunities are available at Carroll University and Minnesota State University-Mankato; select credits may also transfer to other institutions.
  • Graduates of WCTC's Dental Hygienist program consistently achieve outstanding pass rates on required exams -- most recently 100 percent on the National Board Dental Hygiene written exam and 100 percent on the Central Regional Dental Testing Service practical exam.
  • Incoming students may earn credit for prior learning for specific high school health courses.
  • Wages of recent graduates per Graduate Follow-up Report
    • Three-year Avg. Salary for Full-time Related Employment: $56,457
