This three-day summer experience for grades 6-8 will introduce students to a variety of careers and focus on the education and training needed for those jobs. Choose from Criminal Justice, Early Childhood Education, Metal Fabrication/Welding, Cosmetology and much more!

Career Quest will be held Aug. 6-8 at Waukesha County Technical College, 800 Main St., Pewaukee. Registration begins April 22 and ends June 28, and will be filled on a first-come, first-served basis. Cost is $100 per student. Find out more!

These courses combine classroom training with on-motorcycle training and provide novice riders with the essential skills necessary for safe motorcycle operation. Courses are taught by motorcycle professionals and utilize program materials from the Motorcycle Safety Foundation (MSF). Emphasis is placed on motorcycle controls, safety, basic street riding, maneuvering, basic maintenance and insurance. More than 350 community members, law enforcement officials and business partners came together to support WCTC’s Firing Range at a fundraising event held May 1 at the future location of the facility in Pewaukee. Clay Matthews was the guest of honor at the event, which featured a live and silent auction and food prepared by WCTC Culinary students.

The indoor Firing Range, scheduled to open in October 2013, will be a state-of-the-art facility available to local law enforcement, WCTC Police Academy students and the general public. The range is made possible through a unique public/private partnership with the WCTC Foundation and area businesses that have provided in-kind and cash donations for the project.

Fennimore’s book is entitled, “Sustainable Facility Management – Operational Strategies for Today.” The book is a contemporary and comprehensive overview of facility maintenance and serves as a commonly-used reference for beginning and experienced facility maintenance technicians and managers.

Students in WCTC’s 70-credit Printing and Publishing Associate Degree program are learning the skills needed for today’s printing and publishing jobs through the College’s world-class Harry V. Quadracci Printing and Graphics Center. The program features all aspects of the printing process – from creative construction of printed material, to integrating all forms of print to a digital, cross-media environment. Learn more.

Waukesha County Technical College students are now eligible for Scholarship America's Dreamkeepers program, which provides assistance to students at risk of dropping out of college due to unexpected financial emergencies.

Dreamkeepers assistance was created to help students stay in college and meet their educational goals, ultimately, securing a better financial future. Eligible expenses include utilities, housing/rent, food, medical expenses, personal automobile expenses and child care.

WCTC helps high school students along their career pathway through transcripted credit agreements, which provide high school students the opportunity to take WCTC courses at their high school. Dual credit programs between Wisconsin high schools and technical colleges provide quality educational opportunities to more than 10,000 students annually - with more than 5,500 of those students receiving credit at WCTC.

As the nationwide skills gap continues, the door has opened to incredible career opportunities for young adults pursuing degrees in manufacturing and skilled trades.

The skills gap - a shortage of qualified applicants to the more than 600,000 skilled-trades jobs that remain open nationwide - is on track to become an even greater crisis in Wisconsin, where between 2010-2040, the number of senior residents in the state will nearly double, increasing from 777,000 to 1,544,000.
