Description:

This course meets the NFPA 1001, Standard for Firefighter Professional Qualifications, training requirements for WTCS Firefighter I certification. (Students must also complete the Hazardous Materials Operations course to be eligible for WTCS Firefighter I certification testing.) Students are given the opportunity to learn, develop and practice the practical skills required to perform as a firefighter, while also receiving the didactic theory required to support those skills and related firefighting functions. This course extends past the entry-level courses to better prepare the student to function as a firefighter while also providing the necessary education and skills to be eligible for WTCS Firefighter I certification testing.

  • Optional:  Jones and Bartlett Navigate 2 Test Prep:  Firefighter I & II (978-1-2840-8512-9)

Other Course Requirements:

  • Dress code required
  • Students will also be registered for Hazardous Materials Operations as well.
    • Wednesdays from 6pm - 10pm - 7/17, 7/24, 7/31, 8/7
    • Cost of Haz Mat Ops:  $59.14
  • Students will receive a packet of information in the mail prior to the program expectation session.  Please be sure to review the information carefully.
  • Students are required to attend a mandatory Program Expectation Session on the following day:
    • Wednesday, June 12, 2019, 1:00 pm - 3:00 pm gear/fit-testing; 4:00 - 5:00 pm Orientation, Service building, room S233
