Fraud Investigations
April Devalkenaere of the Waukesha County DA’s Office will discuss the latest methods and requirements needed to get a fraud conviction; to include, but not limited to, credit card, contractor fraud, as well as embezzlement. Payment card money laundering is a multi-billion dollar problem for law enforcement, so April will also discuss the use of Electronic Recovery and Access to Data (ERAD).
Case Studies of Major Incidents and Investigations:
The Slender Man Investigation (Waukesha PD)
· Det. Michelle Trussoni and other detectives from Waukesha Police will breakdown this interesting case that was carried out by two juveniles inspired by a fictional character.
Robbery of Stradivarius Violin from concertmaster Frank Almond (Milwaukee PD)
· Det. Gust Petropoulos (Ret. MPD) will breakdown how this incident took place and how the investigation led to the arrest and convictions of two individuals. Det. Petropoulos will also cover some of the interview techniques used during the custodial interviews.
