Description

This one day seminar examines the law enforcement response to conflict, violence and victimization, along with proactive coping strategies related to trauma. Taught by a 25 year veteran patrol officer, author, educator, and trainer, Kike Knetzger; his powerful narrative will help law enforcement officers remember why they became protectors. Officer Knetzger will share his personal story of how he and his family coped with the loss of their 18 year old daughter, Ashley, who was murdered by a drunk driver. Officer Knetzger was working on the night of the vehicular homicide that took Ashley's life and there was nothing he could do to save her. Best practices related to grief recovery and police officer support will also be discussed. Officer Knetzger will also examine the power of a law enforcement officer's oath and how ethical protector principles drive our communication skills and the use of force decisions that we make.
