Vehicle Pursuit Training / Firearms

  • Vehicle Pursuit Training

The 2019- 2021 biennium's training will address a number of issues affecting public and officer safety and will include:

  • Reviewing what constitutes a pursuit.
  • Reviewing the steps for initiating, continuing, and terminating a pursuit.
  • Communication during a pursuit.
  • Practical exercises on initiating, continuing, and terminating vehicle pursuits and the communication that should take place during each phase of a pursuit.

If local policy prohibits pursuits or limits pursuit methods, officers will learn how they can act in a supporting role for a pursuing agency.

 

  • Firearms Training (NOTE:  We will not be conducting State Qualification during this training.)
    • Handgun and Rifle Movement
    • Getting off of the “X”
    • Moving to cover
    • Transition to Firearm during a sudden assault

 

Mandatory Equipment:

NEEDED FOR VPT

Gun belt with handcuff key.  Remove all weapons and ammunition prior to class.  Dress for weather conditions.

 

NEEDED FOR FIREARMS

Duty belt, holster, taser holster, flashlight, baton holder, handcuffs, keepers, loose fitting clothes, pants, belt, body armor, and appropriate clothing for weather. 

 

HANDGUN and 100 HANDGUN ROUNDS.              

RIFLE (M-4 STYLE) and 200 RIFLE ROUNDS.

Ear and eye protection and body armor.
