Get a Head Start on College

In WCTC’s Dual Enrollment Academy, you can explore high-demand fields and earn college credit while still in high school. This program helps ease the transition from high school to post-secondary education, giving you insight into college academics and a jump start on programs.

  • This program involves spending most of your school day, both fall and spring semesters, at WCTC.
  • You are required to provide your own safety equipment, school supplies and transportation to and from campus.
  • After successfully completing the program, you’ll earn a WCTC certificate or diploma along with high school credits.

Dual Enrollment Academy Eligibility

To be eligible for WCTC's Dual Enrollment Academy, you must apply during your junior year of high school for participation senior year. Well-qualified juniors may also be eligible to participate. Talk to your high school counselor for more information. You must also:

  • Have a minimum of a 2.0 GPA or letter of recommendation from your counselor.
  • Be in good academic standing in high school.
  • Have your school’s and parent/guardian’s approval.
  • Acknowledge and sign FERPA statement.
  • Meet WCTC entrance requirements.

Attendance/Homework Policy

Once accepted into the Dual Enrollment Academy, you cannot miss more than three days per class per semester. Late and/or missing assignments could impact your course grade, which could result in dismissal from the program.

How to Apply

Explore the timeline and checklist below to apply for the Dual Enrollment Academy. Please note:

  • Application does not guarantee admission. High school transcripts, quality of personal statement, attendance record and counselor recommendation will be considered when applications exceed spots available.
  • Admission to the Dual Enrollment Academy is for fall semester only. If your academic performance is satisfactory, you’ll be permitted to enroll for the spring.
  • Late applications will be considered only if spots are available.
  • If selected, you will receive an acceptance letter explaining next steps to confirm your spot in the program. Admitted students must attend the Dual Enrollment Academy Orientation. If you do not attend, you may forfeit your spot in the program.
  • Attend an upcoming Information Night to learn more about DEA.
  • The deadline to submit your DEA application is March 1, 2024.
  • Decision notification letters are sent to high schools and students in April.
  • Admitted students must attend a summer orientation. Refer to your acceptance letter for more information.

Attend a Dual Enrollment Academy Information Night at WCTC.

Complete the Dual Enrollment Academy Application (including your personal statement on why you would be a good candidate) and submit it to your high school counselor for approval. Your high school will submit your completed application packet to WCTC's Center for Early College Opportunities.
