Tobacco-Free Campus

To promote a healthier environment for everyone, WCTC prohibits tobacco use inside all College-controlled vehicles, buildings, grounds and parking lots. WCTC has no jurisdiction over the use of city-owned streets, sidewalks and right-of-ways. You may still use tobacco in your private vehicle while parked on campus, but we ask that you make a reasonable effort to contain smoke and tobacco material inside the car (e.g., keeping all waste products, including cigarette butts, inside the car).

Enforcement

We ask for the cooperation of all faculty, staff and students to keep our campus healthy and tobacco-free. If you witness a violation of this policy, please report it to campus police (x5582). Violators will be subject to a fine:

  • First Violation: $25 fine and College warning. This ticket serves as official notice that you have violated an institutional regulation.
  • Second Violation: $50 fine and second College warning.
  • Third Violation: $75 fine. Students must meet with the Student Life Manager and may be subject to further disciplinary action. Employees must meet with the associate vice president of human resources and may be subject to progressive discipline. Visitors may be asked to leave campus.
