Classroom Attendance

All students are expected to attend classes on a regular, punctual basis. Attendance the first day of class is mandatory. If students do not attend the first day of class, they will be dropped from the course.

Students with extenuating circumstances may contact their instructor prior to the first class and discuss alternative options and will require instructor approval. In addition, each academic department and program area has developed its own attendance policy, which will be communicated to students by faculty during the first week of classes. Students are responsible for discussing absences with their instructors and completing makeup work.

Class Absence for Co-curricular Activities

• Absence from class will be allowed for participation in authorized field trips, conferences and other activities sanctioned by WCTC.
• It is the student's responsibility to discuss the absence with the instructor prior to the activity. The responsibility for makeup work lies with the student.
