  Transition Services

    Transition services assist individuals with disabilities to explore training options at Waukesha County Technical College. Transition services are for high school students or recent high school graduates with disabilities.

    What transition services are available?

    • Campus preview days and special events
    • Support services
    • Application process
    • Individual/group presentation
    • Career planning
    • Registration assistance
    • Summer transition class
    • Liaison with community agencies/high schools

    What other services are available?

    • Testing accommodations on the WCTC admissions test
    • Assistance with setting up academic support services
    • Assistance with adaptive equipment
    • Classroom accommodations

    Transition Checklist

      Prior to beginning at WCTC:

      1. Collect all documentation on your disability. Make an appointment with a Transition Specialist
      2. Discuss supportive services and accommodations you will need.
      3. Complete and return the WCTC Application for Admission.
      4. Contact the Transition Specialist if you are requesting accommodations on the admissions test.
      5. Apply for financial aid.
      6. Attend new student orientation with the program counselor. Call the Transition Specialist for advice on credit load.
      7. Attend the summer Transition class.
      8. Learn to be your own advocate.
