  Getting Started

WCTC Internet courses are designed for the independent student who needs a flexible learning option to fit their busy schedule. To ensure that your learning experience is a positive one, we would like you to carefully review and complete the steps below that will help you get off to a successful start in your online course(s):

    1. We highly recommend that you review all sections in this Orientation area. To find out if you have what it takes to be a successful Internet student you should complete the Independent Learner Profile. Also, check the Hardware and Software Requirements.
    2. To login to Blackboard and get started in your course you will need your college USERNAME and PASSWORD. If you don’t know your USERNAME and PASSWORD you can look it up with My WCTC
    3. Please be aware, you will not be able to access your online course(s) until the official first day of classes. However, one week before your class officially starts, you can login to our Blackboard system and begin exploring Blackboard. You can also review the “Getting Started” course that will introduce you to the Blackboard system.
    4. All WCTC online courses will require students to use their offical WCTC assigned email address. All course related email correspondence from Blackboard will be sent to this address only. If you choose, you may elect to forward your email to a personal email address. This can be done under the Netmail Options icon and then by clicking on the Mailbox Management tab to enter a Forward to: email address. It is important that you check your emails and respond as appropriate at the start of the course or your instructor may have to drop you from your course.
    5. Go to the WCTC Bookstore and purchase any required textbooks.
    6. In the event that you need assistance, here are the numbers you can call:
      1. Blackboard login assistance: Ren Rodee at 262.691.7863
      2. Blackboard technical assistance: 262.691.5361 (M - Fri 8:00am - 9:00pm and Sat. 8:00am - 3:00pm

If you are new to online learning we strongly encourage you to attend a WCTC on-campus Blackboard Orientation session offered the first two weeks of each semester. Held in the Omni Tech Technology Center at the Pewaukee campus, these sessions will help you learn to navigate and use Blackboard tools. Orientation dates and times will be announced at the start of the semester in your Blackboard Getting Started course.

Good luck with your Internet course and have a great semester!

Sincerely,

The WCTC Distance Learning Team
