Information about Chapter 1606 Montgomery GI Bill - Selected Reserve Benefits
The Montgomery GI Bill - Selected Reserve program may be available to you if you are a member of the Selected Reserve. The Selected Reserve includes the Army Reserve, Navy Reserve, Air Force Reserve, Marine Corps Reserve and Coast Guard Reserve, and the Army National Guard and the Air National Guard. You may be entitled to receive up to 36 months of education benefits.

How do I apply for Chapter 1606 Montgomery GI Bill - Selected Reserve Benefits?
- If you have not previously received VA educational benefits, complete VA Form 22-1990, Application for Educational Benefits.
VA Form 22-1990 can be obtained from the Veteran/Military Benefits desk in C-019, can be downloaded from the web, or you can complete it online.
If you have previously received VA educational benefits, you will need to complete VA Form 22-1995, Request for Change of Program or Place of Training Form which can be obtained from the Veteran/Military Benefits desk in C-019 or can be downloaded from the web.
- Submit a copy of your DD Form 2384-1, Notice of Basic Eligibility to the Veteran/Military Benefits desk in C-019.
- Complete and submit a VA Education Benefit Enrollment Certification Form
This can be obtained from the Veteran/Military Benefits desk in C-019. This must be done every semester if you wish to have us certify your benefits for the semester.
Payment Information
The monthly benefit paid to you is based on the type of training you are in. If you are attending school, your payment is based on your training time. Payment charts
The VA will send you a benefits award letter once they have confirmed your eligibility. In order to receive the funding listed in that award letter you will be required to certify your enrollment with the VA each month online or call 877.823.2378.
