  Financial Aid
  Application Process
  1. Apply for Admission
In order to be considered for financial aid you must be accepted for admission to an eligible program. Please make sure the program you are interested in is eligible for aid.
  2. Obtain a PIN Number
In order to sign the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) both the student and one parent need a PIN number from the U.S. Department of Education (ED). Request a PIN. (Independent students are not required to obtain parental signatures.)
  3. Complete the FAFSA
The FAFSA is the only form needed to apply for Federal and State grants and loans. While you can apply using the paper FAFSA, WCTC encourages you to file online. Beginning 1/1/2008, the only way to obtain a paper copy of the FAFSA is by calling the U.S. Department of Education at 1-800-4-FED-AID (1-800-433-3243). If you file online, we further encourage the use of the FAFSA on the Web Worksheet to help you collect the data you need prior to entering it online. The online process is quicker and more accurate than filing a paper FAFSA. When filing, you will need to list WCTC's school code on the FAFSA. Our school code is 005294. You can start filing the FAFSA beginning January 1 of the year you plan on enrolling and we encourage you to have your FAFSA processed by our priority deadline of March 30 for maximum grant opportunities.

The FAFSA asks income and asset information from both parents and students and ED will use this information to calculate your Expected Family Contribution. It can take two to four weeks for ED to process your FAFSA and once they have they will send you a Student Aid Report (SAR). You should thoroughly review your SAR to ensure that all of the information is correct.
  4. Complete Verification (if selected)
Approximately 30 percent of all applicants are randomly selected by ED for a process called verification. If you are selected, you will be asked to supply WCTC with copies of your federal tax forms and a verification worksheet to verify that what you submitted on the FAFSA is accurate. WCTC will notify you in writing if you are selected.
  5. Respond to Your Award Offer
Once you have completed the FAFSA (and completed verification if selected), WCTC will use the information submitted on your FAFSA and your EFC to determine what Federal and State grants and loans you are eligible for. We will mail you an Award Offer listing all of the aid you are eligible for. It is important to follow all instructions on the award offer as there may be additional steps you must complete depending upon what you have been awarded.
  6. Track your financial aid status
You can track the status of your financial aid application online.
  7. Apply for Scholarships.
