Credit Courses
What are Credit courses?
The purpose of credit classes in reading, writing, and math
is to enhance college level skills, to earn a college level
credit and grade, and to use the college credit for an elective
to graduate from a WCTC Associate Degree program. The
credit courses are self-paced and individualized. The
credits are NOT to be used for preparation for admission into
WCTC Associate Degree programs.
Reading
Includes improvement of comprehension, vocabulary, reading rate,
and study skills such as test-taking strategies, memory techniques,
note-taking skills and critical reading.
- 808-104 Individualized Reading Workshop, 1 credit
- 808-105 Individualized Reading Workshop, 2 credits
- 808-155 Business Reading Strategies, 1 credit, 9 weeks
- Description: Students beginning business occupations
courses that wish to better prepare for college work and
enhance their reading skills for the workplace. Students
will develop reading comprehension, vocabulary, and learning
strategies.
Writing
Includes the process of developing and editing paragraphs and
essays using complete sentences, correct punctuation, and proper
grammar.
- 801-191 Fundamentals of Writing, 1 credit
- 801-192 Fundamentals of Writing, 2 credits
Math
May include topics that are specific to the student's program,
which may include ratio and proportion, measurement, scientific
notation, signed numbers, algebra, and geometry topics.
- 804-199 Special Topics in Math, 1, 2 or 3 credits
