About the Program
36-credit technical diploma
Through a consortium effort with Lakeshore Technical College, the
Pharmacy Technician program is offered
through the use of distance education
via television as well as on-site classes.
Pharmacy Technicians assist pharmacists
in hospital and community pharmacies.
During this program, students will
learn to package and label drugs for
prescription dispensing, prepare and
deliver unit dose drugs to nursing
services of hospitals or nursing homes,
and prepare parenteral mixtures under
aseptic and sterile conditions. Skills
necessary to receive and inventory drug
shipments, maintain records and patient
profiles and compound solutions,
ointments, lotions, suppositories, and
other medications are also studied.
