Clinical Laboratory Technician Informational Video:
The clinical laboratory technician (CLT),
also known as a medical laboratory
technician (MLT), performs analytical
procedures of blood and other body fluids,
under the supervision of a medical
technologist or physician. Through a consortium
effort, this Milwaukee Area Technical College program is being
offered through WCTC. Students will work
under the supervision of a medical
technologist or physician in a variety
of procedures, including collection and
analysis of blood and other body fluids
in such areas as hematology, chemistry,
immunology, therapeutic drug monitoring,
and microbiology. Students will also learn
to perform routine analytical procedures,
recognize the importance of quality
control, and exercise accepted safety
precautions in the collection and handling
of clinical specimens.
This program is accredited by the
National
Accrediting Agency for Clinical Laboratory Sciences. Graduates are
eligible to write national certifying
examinations.
