Automotive Technology (GM-ASEP)
Getting Started
- Admissions: Complete the General College Admissions Process
- Coop Sponsorship: This degree has a strong emphasis on cooperative (worksite) learning. You must secure a sponsor*. A sponsor is an approved GM dealership or AC Delco-affiliated independent shop who agrees to hire you as coop student/worker. No applicant will be admitted without a sponsor. WCTC will assist in providing guidance and identifying interested sponsors, however, the college does not assign a sponsor to a student. It is the student's responsibility to find a sponsor. Sponsor process:
- Download the attached sponsorship form: secure a sponsor* then download one of the attached potential sponsor contact lists of your choice. One list contains Southeast Wisconsin area GM Dealers and TSS shops and the other contains all GM dealers and TSS shops in the state.
- Make contacts with the dealers or shops of your choice and ask for an interview for a coop as a GMASEP student.
- Complete the interviews and when you secure a sponsor, have them complete the sponsorship form and return to the WCTC Admissions Office.
Linda Reinke or Mark Krause (262.691.5517) are your program instructors and will assist with coordinating coop sponsorships.
- Driver's License: You must have a valid driver’s license and a very good driving record (dealer-sponsor insurance requirements).
- Program Acceptance: Applicants will be accepted on a first come, first served basis when all of the above requirements are completed and if there is still room in the classes.
- Tools and Safety Equipment: Accepted students will be required to have their own set of tools. View the recommended tool list*.
