Practical Nursing Exit

About the Program

32-credit technical diploma

Beginning in Fall 2013, the 32-credit Practical Nurse Exit program will longer be an option for admission. Students may enter the Nursing Associate of Applied Science Degree program, and after completing the second semester of studies take the NCLEX-PN exam to obtain licensure as an LPN.

Practical Nursing Exit program enrollment is only open October 1 through December 15 annually.

Admission to the Practical Nursing Exit program is reserved for Waukesha District residents only.

A foundation in communication and science sets the stage for a theory-based progression through clinical nursing courses where you will gain experience in institutional and community-based settings. The curriculum emphasis is on diversity, individuality and caring. Practical Nursing Exit students complete the first two semesters of the Nursing - Associate Degree program and must exit at that time to take the Practical Nursing licensure exam. As a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN), you will be ready to participate in a variety of activities under the supervision of a registered nurse or under the direction of a physician, podiatrist or dentist.

  • Training as a nursing assistant and certification in Heart Saver CPR is required before entry into core nursing courses.
  • Upon program completion, be prepared to take the licensing exam to become a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN).
  • After licensure and completion of additional general education prerequisites, the LPN may petition for entrance into the Practical Nursing - A.D.N. Progression program.
