Nursing Assistant
About the Program
3-credit technical diploma
No application is required for this program. However, a $20 fee for a Criminal Background Check is required prior to the start of the class.
This is a state certified, mandatory 120-hour course. Hours of the course are divided between the classroom, Nursing Assistant Lab and clinical site. Classroom discussion uses lecture, DVDs and other methods of instruction. The Nursing Assistant Lab portion teaches basic nursing skills which requires student participation for skills such as feeding, bathing and other personal cares. This is done with a manikin or with another student in the lab. The clinical portion will be with an instructor and other students at an area Long Term Care Facility where care will be provided to assigned patients under instructor supervision.
Upon successful completion, you will be eligible to write the state exam which places you on the Nursing Assistant Registry in the state of Wisconsin.
Students must demonstrate reading proficiency before registering for the course. This may be done by taking the COMPASS reading test and achieving a score of 40 or higher. Please contact the Assessment Center 262.695.6215 to schedule a testing session.
