510-401 Medical/Surgical Nsg Review

Gain current knowledge in medical-surgical nursing. Common diseases and disorders of the adult will be discussed via DVD's with PowerPoint and quiz. It includes etiology, pathophysiology, treatments, and nursing implications. Taught by advanced practice nurses in specialty areas, you will learn the basis for the care you are giving to patients. This course is nursing theory update only. There will not be a nursing skills review or clinical portion provided. Note: This is an Internet only course. High-speed Internet or access to the WCTC Omni Tech Technology Center is required.

510-459C IV Therapy and Insertion

Gain skill in IV insertion technique and learn the latest in infusion practice. This comprehensive offering will review the basics of equipment, fluids and insertion site selection as well as provide practice in insertion technique. This course is appropriate for nurses, nursing students with some clinical experience, and others who may be responsible for IV insertion or maintenance such as Medical Assistants working under RN or MD supervision. It may be used as a comprehensive review or as a general course to build knowledge and skills. It is not intended for specialization in IV practice. A certificate of completion will be awarded after participating in all 16 hours of class.

Foot reflexology is an alternative health activity based on the premise that there are points called reflexes on the feet that correspond with organs and specific locations on the body. Through application of pressure on specific reflexes, blood flow is stimulated at the corresponding organ or location.

The benefits of massage reach through all ages. Learn self techniques to promote circulation and reduce swelling, speed healing of injuries, relieve mental and physical fatigue, and promote more restful sleep. Class instructed by a registered massage therapist. Techniques will be practiced in class.

510-400Q Oh My Aching Back

All of us tend to neglect our backs until one day, when we least expect it, we cry out, "Oh, my aching back! Why me?" Learn ways through massage to start taking care of your back and guide you on a road to recovery. Bring twin sheets and a pillow. Clothing attire - shorts, swim suits, sports bra.

510-497 Massage Basics

Learn fundamental massage techniques for your body with a focus on how massage can benefit you in relieving soreness, tension and stiffness, aide the immune system, and promote a sense of well being. All students receive handouts to keep, which include step by step instruction with pictures. This session is designed for personal use on you and your family. Wear comfortable clothing: shorts, swim suits, sports bra under clothing. Bring twin sheet set and a pillow for the massage table provided. Individuals welcome to sign up. Class instructed by a certified massage therapist.

531-480 CPR for Health Care Provider

Basic Life Support (BLS) curriculum and testing will include one and two rescuer adult CPR, adult and pediatric obstructed airway, use an automated external defibrillator (AED) and pediatric CPR. This module includes the use of barrier devices. This course is appropriate for health care providers and other professional rescuers who do not carry a current health care provider card. The fee includes a textbook and a two year certification card.
