What brought you to WCTC?

"I was a stay-at-home mom for many years. However, I'm recently divorced and had to make critical decisions about my future. I have a bachelor's degree and worked in social work for a few years but have been out of the workforce and knew I had to go back to school. I thought IT was a safe field and ever changing."

Why did you choose WCTC when you already had a bachelor degree?

"IT Networking is very hands on, and most four-year programs are a lot of theory. You need the hands-on experience. I have also found that because of the instructor's industry experience, they know more. I like that I can network through the instructors because they are so connect in the industry."

What is your impression of WCTC?

"Well, I'm not going to lie; I thought a two-year school was for those who couldn't cut it at a four-year university. Was I wrong! I'm in a fast-paced program. You have to be disciplined; you have to want it. I also feel very comfortable and safe on campus. "

What was your path to the networking program?

"I came to the program with a bachelor's degree. I was the Operations Manager for Time Warner and my position was eliminated through consolidation and reorganization. I decided to go back to school, but I didn't think WCTC was an option because I thought "why would I get an associate degree when I already hold a bachelor's?" But enough people I respected told me to look at WCTC. Two-year institutions seem to have a stigma, but that stigma is so far from the truth. WCTC is a hidden gem!"

How do you like the instructors?

"The instructors are excellent! They are either still in the "outside" work environment or recently have been there. The instructors have so much knowledge and want to share it with you. They do an excellent job at keeping everyone motivated."

Would you recommend WCTC?

"In a heartbeat. There are a lot of resources here. You can take your career to the next level if you utilize those resources, especially the teachers!"
