Auto Collision Technician

26-credit Technical Diploma

Auto collision technicians possess the skills needed to repair auto body and parts damage to cars, trucks, vans, buses and other vehicles. They are knowledgeable in the basic welding, metal finishing, plastic and composite repair processes, and they are trained to do panel replacement, realignment of car frames and chassis to repair structural damage, hammer out dents and dimples, window installation and other repairs.

  • Prepare for jobs such as auto collision technician, auto body technician, prepper, body mechanic or painter.
  • Hone auto collision technician skills in WCTC’s cutting-edge Collision Technology Center, which features state-of-the-art frame and bench repair systems, universal and laser dimension and measuring equipment, high-tech down draft prep stations/spray booths and a centralized vacuum system.
  • The curriculum for the Auto Collision Technician program is the first year of studies in the comprehensive Auto Collision Repair and Refinishing Technician program. Students who complete the Auto Collision Technician program will require just one additional year of studies to earn the additional credits needed for the Auto Collision Repair and Refinishing Technician program.

Credit Transfer Opportunities

WCTC has agreements with local high schools and various four-year colleges and universities that enable students to transition more seamlessly from high school to WCTC to four-year colleges. Transcripted credit agreements provide high school students the opportunity to take WCTC courses at their high schools. Agreements with four-year colleges enable WCTC graduates in selected programs to transfer credits, often at junior-level standing. Agreements currently in place for this program are listed below.
