Interior Design Students Win NARI Competition

Students from WCTC's Interior Design program recently won a design competition at the annual Milwaukee National Association of the Remodeling Industry (NARI) Home Improvement Show.

Four colleges took part in the contest: the Milwaukee Institute of Art Design, MATC, Gateway Technical College and WCTC. Each team was given a 12' x 12' room space and a theme of "relaxation/meditation". The teams executed a design for the space, incorporating the wall and floor space and furnishings through use of their own supplies and donated items. The students then explained their concept and how they achieved their end design to the general public who ultimately voted for their favorite room design.

In addition to winning bragging rights, the WCTC Interior Design program was awarded $1000.

Condensed Format Paramedic Training Offered

At the request of local fire departments, WCTC will begin offering a single-semester paramedic program starting in fall. The condensed program will run for 22 weeks, with students attending 40 hours per week for 16 weeks (which includes lecture, lab, clinical and field time), and then completing approximately 48 hours of field time per week over the next six weeks. National Registry testing will be offered shortly thereafter to expedite the licensing process. Due to the high demand for paramedics in the community, the college will also continue to offer the two-semester Paramedic program in an effort to meet the different scheduling needs and increase the number of students educated within a single school year.
