Financial Aid
Summer Financial Aid
Summer Financial Aid Applications are now available for current program students. Most financial aid programs require you to submit both the 2011-12 and the 2012-13 FAFSAs, and to be enrolled in at least six (6) summer credits. The deadline for Summer Financial Aid is Friday, June 22.
Important Notice Regarding Student Loans
After submitting the 2012-13 FAFSA, visit the Student Loan Website to complete the Direct Loan Entrance Counseling and the Direct Loan Master Promissory Note (MPN). If you've already completed these steps as a WCTC student, then you are not required to repeat the Direct Loan application process. Please refer to this list of Frequently Asked Questions to find how this affects you as a student loan borrower.
Financial Aid Awards and Verification
In addition to submitting the FAFSA, financial aid students must also apply for admissions and be accepted into an eligible academic program. In many cases, additional documentation such as verification forms and income tax transcripts must also be provided to WCTC before financial aid is processed. Use My WCTC Account (OIS) to check the status of your financial aid process, to view your award notice, and to order student loans.
Use My WCTC Account (OIS) to view Financial Aid Awards and to order Student Loans
Financial Aid Award Notices will be sent to your WCTC email address, along with a link to your OIS account to view your award. Paper Award Notices will no longer be mailed. To check the status of your financial aid and to view your award, click 'Student and Financial Aid,' then 'Financial Aid,' then 'My Overall Status of Financial Aid.'
If you've completed the Direct Loan Entrance Counseling and Master Promissory Note (MPN) as a WCTC student, use your OIS account to accept, decline, or reduce your Direct Loan. From 'My Overall Status of Financial Aid,' click 'You have been Awarded,' then 'Accept Award Offer' to review your loan options.
Direct Loan Disbursements and Direct Deposit
Direct Loans generally arrive the week before each semester to pay your tuition bill. Any remaining loan funds are mailed or directly deposited to your bank account. First-time users should log onto their OIS accounts through My Account to set-up Direct Deposit. Select 'Student & Financial Aid,' then 'Student Account Center.' On the new web page, select 'Refunds,' then 'Payment Profile,' to enter or update your bank account and routing numbers.
Electronic Book Vouchers for Pell Grant Recipients
Pell Grant recipients may use their WCTC IDs or OneCards to purchase textbooks in the WCTC Bookstore. Visit Student Life in C-121 to obtain your OneCard and gain access to your financial aid funds for textbook purchases. Financial aid will pay your WCTC Bookstore bill and unpaid tuition. Any remaining funds will be mailed or directly deposited into your bank account. Electronic book vouchers will be available from May 29 through June 15, with Pell Grants being mailed and directly deposited beginning June 8.
Remember to file the 2012-13 FAFSA when you complete your 2011 Income Tax Return
April 15 is the priority date to submit the FAFSA. Nearly 1,000 WCTC students did not receive up to $1,200 in Wisconsin Higher Education Grants during 2011-12 because they applied for Financial Aid after April 15.
