COMPASS Assessment FAQ's
Where will we test?
Please check in at room C022 (located in the College Center Building) 15 minutes before your scheduled test time. You will be taking your test on a computer in a computer lab. We will walk together as a group to the computer lab.
What will be on the test?
Reading, writing and math.
How long does the test take?
You will be working at your own pace. Most students finish in 2 - 2 1/2 hours.
What will I need to test?
You will need a picture ID (driver’s license, student ID, etc.) and a calculator.
When will I get the results?
Immediately following the test.
What if English is my second language?
There are two tests available. If English is your second language, we have an alternate test available for you. Please notify the examiner.
What if I have already taken the ACT or Accuplacer test?
We may be able to use your ACT or Accuplacer scores for placement if they meet the needed criteria. Official score reports must be sent to the Admissions Office for waiver consideration. For the ACT we review three areas, English, Reading and Math. Please see the chart below for score requirements. If you are applying for the Electrical or Mechanical Engineering programs you may be required to do some additional testing in the areas of Advanced Math.

What if I am applying to a shared program?
WCTC has several programs offered through consortiums with other technical colleges. These programs are Clinical Lab Technician, Physical Therapy Assistant, Radiography, and Pharmacy Technician. The "host colleges" for these programs set the program admissions assessment requirements. Meeting course requirements may not meet the program required scores, contact the WCTC Admissions Office at 262.691.5271 for additional information.
